Join us on Wednesday, June 6 beginning at 7:00 at the HA Yelle Elementary School

Movie night featuring "No Kidding! Me 2!"

An empowering film that sheds light on what nearly 100 million Americans suffer with in silence and isolation through candid, often humorous discussions with Pantoliano and his family on their struggle with his own clinical depression, as well as the compelling stories of six other people from all walks of life, all affected differently by mental illness, including a brain surgeon with bipolar disorder and three high school students managing bipolar disorder and clinical depression.

WHAT IS SEPAC

A "PARENT ADVISORY COUNSEL" is a school-wide organization of parents, teachers, and administrators working in partnership to promote innovative educational environments where children with disabilities have equal access to educational opportunities. SEPAC provides parent education, support and training at the local level. Workshops, parent connections, newsletters, websites, and referrals provide broad outreach.

The council provides valuable feedback and information to the school district, school committee and various educators. SEPAC can assist the school in reducing the frustrations that parents can experience when they first stumble into special education. One thing is certain: early detection and intervention are vital for children with special needs. Every child deserves the opportunity to reach his/her FULL potential. SEPAC can assist parents in accessing the information and direction they need to facilitate that process.

The Parent Advisory Council is not a school council. They are two different organizations with a different, but equally important focus and mission. School Councils are specific to a particular school. Parent Advisory Councils are specific to an entire community and school district.

Your child does not have to have a diagnosed disability or an IEP for you to be involved.

OUR MISSION....

Promote and support an innovative educational environment where children with disabilities have equal access to educational opportunities and a school and community environment where all children are encouraged to reach their full potential.

Promote a network for parents of children with disabilities and provide a forum to share information and discuss matters of relative interest and concern regarding our children.

Promote communication and programs within the community to encourage understanding, respect, acceptance and inclusion of children with disabilities.

Promote collaboration with the school community to continually improve the educational opportunities available within our schools that promote improved educational outcomes for children with disabilities.

Assist parents in navigating the Norton School system.

The SEPAC is not a political organization.
